The health and development of our children is at stake - spiritually, psychologically, physically, morally, socially, and sexually. The fight for their innocence and safety continues to intensify.
The need to secure a healthy, safe, and moral future for our children, has never been so pressing and of paramount importance.
Increasingly, children at an early age are being exposed to harmful practices, violence, abuse, sexualisation, neglect, etc. These exposures have detrimental effects on the psychological, spiritual, moral, physical and social wellbeing of the child.
The Church, as a key stakeholder in the development of the child, plays a pivotal role in the safe and healthy upbringing of our children; particularly, in the area of moral development. Church programmes need to aggressively and intentionally counter what children are exposed to, with sound biblical teachings. As it is written: "Train up a child in the way he should go, and when he is old, he will not turn from it." Proverbs 22:6
Advocacy Focus:
Namibia has observed a remarkable, united, and forceful up-rise, in the Church and the society at large, against the legalisation of abortion on demand. This is a huge milestone in the history of Namibia and especially in the history of the Church in Namibia, since the 1990's. During the community sensitisation meetings on abortion, held in November 2021, it was evident that the Church was enlightened; and is now quickened and empowered to continue, as One Voice, One Entity, One Body. The Church in all 7 regions, rose up in the power of God, to reject abortion on demand during the parliamentary public hearings in November 2021. We have witnessed the move of God in our nation, bringing the church together, as expressed by one of the church leaders: ‘This is a move of God’. To date, in all public hearings on abortion in the 7 regions, abortion on demand was rejected 100%. Petitions with over 8000 signatures were submitted to the parliamentary committee, prayer marches were held across the country, and over 100 government, community, traditional and church leaders were sensitised. This would not have been possible without the team that sacrificed their time and volunteered to visit 31 towns and villages, in the 7 regions. A big thank you to all the individuals and institutions who financially contributed toward the regional outreaches. God bless you richly!
