How the Christian Coalition of Churches in Namibia actively engages, mobilises and responds to issues of moral and ethical concern.

Major Issues of Moral Concern

The following are topical social issues currently identified as a matter of urgency requiring the voice of the Church in Namibia to influence legislation:

• Health and education
• Family protection
• Abortion on demand
• Comprehensive Sexually Education (CSE)
• Same sex marriage and LGBTQI
• Sexual Reproductive Health and Rights (SRHR) / Reproductive justice (RJ)
• Alcohol and substance abuse

HOW WE WORK 

  • National Steering committee – facilitate the coordination of developing, planning and implementing strategies to address identified social issues. 
  • Technical working groups – develop specific components of overall strategies, programmes, and implementation plans.
  • Professional groups – provide technical input and direction in the development of strategies to address identified social issues.
  • Regional Pastoral forums – regional, town and constituency level pastoral forums to mobilize the involvement of churches in the respective areas to participate in the coalition of churches and organization on specific matters being addressed, brainstorm and coordinate regional, town and constituency level responses and engagements with government and established authorities on identified issues of concern, and disseminate information.
